The 66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards air tonight! All of you TV junkies know this by now, but in case you’re not aware, an Emmy is one of the highest honors in the television industry. Below are a few facts to get you ready for tonight’s show:
1. What time will the Emmys air?
The Emmys will air on August 25 at 8pm/7c on NBC
2. Why are the Emmys on a Monday this year?
The Emmys usually air on the Sunday before the fall TV season starts, which would have been September 21. However, since NBC will be airing NFL games this year, it was either move an already scheduled football game, or air the Emmys on a Monday. Because NBC isn’t going to air the Emmys on a Monday during the television season, the network also had to schedule the show a little earlier this year.
3. Who’s hosting?
“Saturday Night Live” alum and host of NBC’s “Late Night,” Seth Meyers will be the host for TV’s biggest night and will hopefully bring the laughs. While he shined on SNL’s “Weekend Update,” Meyers hasn’t received the best reviews on his new talk show.
4. What shows will win big?

For drama, it’s hard to say. Many people will agree that “Breaking Bad” deserves to sweep the drama category because this is the last year it will be nominated. Also, the second half of its final season was arguably the best television of the past decade. However, there are other serious contenders such as “Masters of Sex” and “True Detective” that could definitely take home a few statues tonight.
When it comes to comedy, the big winner of the past, “Modern Family” may be officially passing the torch to HBO’s “Veep.”

5. Who is heading the Robin Williams tribute?
Beloved actor Robin Williams passed away earlier this month and the Emmys will be the first TV/film awards show to pay tribute to the actor. Comedian Billy Crystal is reportedly paying tribute to his late friend during the show. It will definitely be a touching tribute as many of the actors in the room have worked with Williams before.
