Episode eight of “American Horror Story: Freak Show” was titled “Bloodbath” and the title fits the episode’s content.
Dandy Mott’s mother talks to a therapist and wants to get her son committed. Mott is upset by this and blames his mother for his insanity by revealing that his father is also his mother’s second cousin. His mother says she never truly loved her husband and only loves Mott.
Mott tells her he is psychotic and should be dead. He pulls out a gun and holds it to his head. Mott’s mother says she couldn’t live if he was dead, so instead, he turns the gun on her and shoots her.
The other death in the show involves Ethel Darling.
After Ma Petite’s death, Darling approaches Elsa Mars and accuses her of killing Ma Petite. She thinks she’s in the right since she heard Mars talking to Stanley about killing the twins. Mars is furious that Darling would accuse her of that, saying she’s done everything for the freaks.
At the end of their argument, Darling prepares to shoot Mars as Mars prepares a drink, but instead, Mars quickly turns around and stabs Darling in the eye.
Darling’s death is covered up by Mars and Stanley disguises it as a suicide. They place Darling’s body in a car and crash the car into a tree, while also making it look like Darling beheaded herself with a chain around her neck.
Esmeralda finds the car in the woods and reports back to the rest of the freaks. Mars puts on her best act and pretends to be terribly upset.
Losing Darling causing the freak show to slightly fall apart.
Jimmy Darling starts drinking heavily and thinks there’s no reason for the show to exist. He has a fight with Esmeralda, telling her to not care about him. She leaves him.
Penny and the other women of the freak show go to her father’s house to capture him and get revenge for Penny’s face. They bring him back to the campgrounds to tar and feather him. They plan to do worse, but Esmeralda stops them. Penny listens to Esmeralda and tells her father to disappear, otherwise she will kill him.
Finally, Mars brings a new member to the freak show from Miami.
Mars finds Barbara at a hospital and picks her because of her obesity. Barbara tells her that her mother hates her weight and thinks its shameful.
The episode ends with Mott bathing in his mother’s blood, satisfied with his deed.
