LSU suspended the Theta Xi fraternity from campus after three members received criminal citations for violating Louisiana’s anti-hazing laws.
The fraternity is suspended from LSU’s campus for two years and was forced to vacate its house at the end of last month, according to a letter sent by university officials in December.
The letter didn’t mention what caused the suspension, but East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney Hillar Moore told The Advocate his office received three criminal citations relating to members of Theta Xi, for which he didn’t issue charges.
Theta Xi joins a growing list of Greek organizations suspended from LSU’s campus, including Phi Delta Theta, Delta Kappa Epsilon and Phi Kappa Psi.
A previous version of this article erroneously stated the length of Theta Xi’s suspension as three years instead of two and misidentified Phi Delta Phi as a suspended fraternity. We regret these errors. We have also clarified that charges were not issued.
