You will never see a crowd at a LSU Gymnastics meet start packing up before the final performance. That is because the final performer of the night is always their favorite. There is just one more thing to witness: Lloimincia Hall.
“I knew that she was a very strong tumbler,” said LSU head coach D-D Breaux. “I knew that she was just kind of okay on balance beam, but floor exercise was the event that we really knew she would make an impact in.”
The daughter of a pastor, Dallas native Lloimincia Hall arrived at LSU in the 2011-2012 season as part of an incredible freshman class for gymnastics.
“We came here feeling like we were about to own America,” said Hall. “But boy did we learn that life and that doing something bigger than yourself is so much more important.”
In her sophomore season, Hall reached the Super Six with her LSU teammates where they finished fifth overall. Then, in her junior year. during LSU’s biggest meet of the year against Alabama, Hall stepped into the national spotlight.
“That night it was so much positive momentum,” said Hall. “I’ll never forget that night, the energy was amazing. To be able to have that exclamation mark at the end of the meet was just kinda icing on the cake as D-D would say.”
After Hall’s “Perfect 10” against Alabama, Tiger TV’s video of the routine went viral, collecting well over 1 million views on YouTube. Hall’s routine was featured on ABC’s “Good Morning America” and she was interviewed on their morning show.
“To be that representative, to be able to go on different shows like GMA and actually be that representative and go out there and say there is another thing other than Olympics and it’s called college athletics,” Hall said.
Through all of the hype and publicity, Hall remained humble and anchored in her faith. Something that guides her on and off of the floor.
“So many people are afraid to put religion or incorporate religion into their sports abilities because they are afraid of what the pub might say but I took that leap of faith and it’s just amazing to see how God put that platform out there to do so,” Hall said.
Hall currently ranks No. 1 nationally on floor, she is a five time All-American, four time SEC floor champion, and holds the LSU record with seven career “Perfect 10’s” on floor routine. But the biggest accomplishment for Hall was changing the culture of LSU Gymnastics.
“It would definitely cultivate that we left a legacy and we left a mark that no other senior class has been able to embark,” said Hall. “It kind of gives me jitters in my stomach and makes me have butterflies to say that that is something that will forever hang in the gym and that will forever be the culture.”
