University students will march on the steps of the State Capitol building to protest cuts to higher education next week.
Organized by University students in an online social media campaign, the protest will take place Thursday, April 30 at 12:30 p.m. and kick off at A.Z. Young Park downtown.
The event’s Facebook page currently has 1,010 attendees.
Student protesters will also work with Alumni Association group LSU Tiger Advocates to reach out to former students and encourage others to participate in an online letter-writing campaign.
This protest comes in the wake of projected statewide budget cuts to higher education. LSU President F. King Alexander announced plans Wednesday the University was drawing up paperwork for financial exigency, or academic bankruptcy.
