The episode begins with Lana explaining to Archer how to care for AJ in her absence.
She leaves him a note with a number on it to contact her in case he realizes he can’t handle it alone, which he eats as soon as Lana leaves his apartment.
He quickly breaks his promise of not drinking by concocting a drink he dubs, “The Black Mexican,” a mixture of tequila and coffee liqueur.
As he starts to unwind and hang out with his daughter, Slater bursts into the apartment with a bullet wound to the shoulder and a Pakistani agent named Farooq who wishes to defect.
The loud disruption causes AJ to start crying and Archer to declare, “Everyone shut up — because spoiler alert, this is a baby!”
Slater places Farooq under Archer’s watch as he stitches himself up and sets off on a solo mission.
While making small talk, Farooq asks to hold AJ and Archer hands her over. Shortly after, Farooq pulls a gun on Archer and introduces himself as a double agent whose mission is to force Archer to take him to the headquarters so he can access their mainframe.
Of course, Archer’s first reaction is to laugh in his face because he can’t take the guy seriously. He automatically assumes that Lana set the whole thing up so that he would call her.
To prove his point, Farooq shoots Archer in the shoulder, which immediately gets his attention.
Archer is then forced to drive them all to the headquarters to comply with Farooq’s request.
This entire time Farooq has held AJ on his hip as an attempt to hold her hostage.
When they exit the elevator, it is discovered that the crew is still at work on a Friday night, but only to have a poker night.
The group is a sight as Pam and Krieger both are down to their underwear with Krieger also wearing a gas mask. However, Pam informs Archer that it’s not strip poker, it’s just hot in the room.
Farooq hides his gun and introduces himself as a nanny unoriginally named Manny, and he and Archer exit to the headquarters.
Once they leave, the group talks about how nervous Archer seemed, and decide to go check on the situation.
Meanwhile Farooq is telling Archer exactly what he plans to do with the mainframe, which is ultimately incriminating himself for future measure as Archer could just alert the CIA of his activity.
At this point, he points the gun at Archer’s face and is about to shoot him when Pam walks in. She surprises everyone by turning into King Kong, hopping from desk to desk in the office and whisking AJ away to safety.
Now that Archer and Farooq are alone, they have a standoff with Cheryl, Cyril, Krieger and Ray all watching from the next room but choosing not to get involved.
Archer asks before Farooq plans to shoot him yet again if he can say something, and then eloquently runs out of the room screaming.
He and the remaining crewmembers all hide behind a desk and try to figure out how they’re going to get everyone out safely as bullets skim past them, and Archer blames AJ for the turn of events.
“What? As far as field operations go, she’s a huge liability,” he says.
Archer decides to run out as a distraction so that everyone else can find Pam and AJ and get out so he can deal with Farooq.
This results in him getting shot two more times, and then the elevator opens and Lana, Pam and Mallory show up with AJ safe and sound.
Lana is clapping and lets him know that she approves of his babysitting skills, although she is upset about him breaking his promise of not drinking and then driving drunk to the office.
It turns out he guessed right in the beginning of the episode — Lana really had set the entire thing up because she wanted to make sure she could trust him with their daughter.
However, she didn’t mean for him to actually get shot.
Archer points to AJ and tells her it’s all his fault and then excuses himself to receive medical attention, and the episode concludes with Farooq, who is actually an actor, inviting the crew to his upcoming improv show.
