On a Wednesday
Mac and Dennis burst into Paddy’s Pub, claiming to have terrible news for the gang. They’ve discovered the fish factory across the street has installed security cameras pointed directly at the bar. Mac and Dennis are worried that they’re being spied on by the factory owner, adding that he’s even purchased the building next to Paddy’s. The fear of a “Chinese takeover” has permeated the gang.
Mac, Charlie, Dennis and Dee begin making conspiracy theories about the fish factory. The factory could potentially be a front for a variety of rackets or espionage against the gang and Paddy’s. Mac, Dennis and Dee propose gathering intelligence on the Chinese employees of the factory. As they leave the bar for more planning, Frank and Charlie ask about their parts in the plan. To their dismay, Mac and Dennis urge them to stay put in Paddy’s and do absolutely nothing.
Alone in Paddy’s, Frank and Charlie become nervous about the other members of the gang. They decide to plan their own attempt to spy on Mac and Dennis to find out what they’re really up to.
Mac, Dennis and Dee visit the fish factory and are immediately halted by the smell of fish. Mac tells Dee she must apply for a job at the factory so as to get in closer with the workers and manager. Dee asks to know more about the plan’s big picture, but Mac and Dennis refuse. They become angry at her for simply wanting to be on an equal level of knowledge. They threaten to replace her with Charlie, which causes her to change her tone.
Charlie pays a visit to Mac and Dennis’ apartment, hoping to mend any damage he’d made to their friendship by asking to be a part of the plan. He brings them a vase of ugly flowers, which is revealed to be hiding a spy camera. Outside on the street, Frank is watching the camera’s feed from inside a van.
After accepting Charlie’s flowers and getting him out of their apartment, Mac and Dennis continue talking about their master plan. Apparently, getting Dee to work in the factory was actually meant to distract her from their true intentions.
Frank watches intently from the van at Mac and Dennis sitting in their living room. They keep talking about “research” and working to make sure their project is perfect. Dennis pulls up a laptop and opens it to Mac. Out of Frank’s view, Mac looks on the screen and is amazed and excited at whatever it is Dennis has found for them. Mac says the material on the screen has “potential.”
Back at the factory, Dee is trying her hardest to get friendly with her new coworkers on the assembly line. She soon finds out that talking to anybody proves to be difficult due to the apparent language barrier. Dee gives up on chatting up her coworker and turns her attention to the floor manager.
She makes a cursory attempt at flirting with him, instead accidentally flipping her hair into a conveyor belt. The manager panics and pushes an emergency stop button, which causes a load of chopped fish to fall on her face. In order to free her from the belt, a factory worker chops the ends of her hair off from the gears.
Charlie calls Mac and Dennis, insisting that they meet at a local Italian restaurant. He tells them the meeting is meant to act as a way to save their friendship. Unfortunately, none of them can order the fish they want to eat due to an incident at the nearby factory.
While the three of them eat demand snapper for lunch, Frank is sneaking into Mac and Dennis’ apartment to find out more about their grand plan. He finds Dennis’ laptop and pulls up some of their recent activity. He calls Charlie, amazed at the mother lode of intel he’s just unearthed.
Dee causes even more trouble at the factory. While sweeping up the fish entrails she spilled on the floor, she causes a forklift to slide out of control and crash into a shelving unit.
Frank calls a meeting with Charlie at the restaurant at a different table. He tells Charlie he found Dennis’ most recent Internet search history – the words “Asian” and “creampies.” This leads Frank to believe that they are planning to open a pastry factory with the Chinese. Charlie is stunned. Frank decides that if Mac and Dennis are going behind their backs, he will try and sway the Chinese to do business with him instead.
Back at their apartment, Mac and Dennis are panicked to find their Internet down. The phone rings with Charlie on the other end. He asks them to meet back at the restaurant. Charlie tells Mac and Dennis that he knows all about their “pastry” plans.
The conversation quickly turns into a back-and-forth of double entendres involving Charlie’s obsessions with making pastries and Mac and Dennis discussing masturbation. Charlie proposes making homemade creampies instead of using the Chinese for resources. Mac and Dennis are disgusted and appalled due to their misunderstand. At no point does either party realize they’re talking about two different “creampies.”
Dennis eventually realizes that Charlie is talking about pastries.
Frank has created a combination advertisement/sales pitch to present to the floor manager of the fish factory. It involves many different elements, all discussing the appeal of cream-filled pies. Everything from President Obama to sex appeal to China is shown in a subliminal fashion over patriotic music.
Charlie calls Frank on his cell phone during this meeting. He explains that Mac and Dennis were never planning to work with pastries, but something else entirely. Frank does an Internet search for the other type of creampie. He experiences many feelings, including amazement, disgust and shock. Dee is visible in the manager’s office’s back window, standing on a ladder to wash windows. She sees what is on Frank’s laptop and falls over in the factory.
Dee’s accident puts her in the hospital. As she lays in bed in traction, the gang berates her for causing accidents to hold up the factory’s production, causing the price of snapper to skyrocket. This price spike has been the main reason they’ve never been able to have fish at all of their restaurant meetings.
The factory’s closing also means no more stolen Internet service for Mac and Dennis. Charlie promises to stop spying on each other, but that the gang should definitely spy on the Chinese. Dennis confirms this idea, saying that if one spies on anyone, they’ll find the whole world is simply watching pornography and masturbating.
