Rank: 4/5
Halloween may have passed, but zombies are back in the new comedic movie “Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse.”,
Released on Oct. 30, this is a new comedy thriller for people who don’t mind a little blood.
The infamous zombie movies may have been overdone, but this one brings a new sense of humor.
Unlike others, this movie is set in the life of high schoolers, but with an R rating. The age range of the movie didn’t seem to have any effect on the age of the viewer.
“Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse” is not a movie for the faint of heart when it comes to language and gory scenes. While the language is used to add a form of comedy, it’s almost a bit too much.
If you’re a person who loves classic horror, this movie may not be for you. While there are points of sudden jump outs and close chase scenes, there isn’t a sense of fear in the whole movie.
On the other hand, if you’re a person who enjoys a classic comedy with a few twists, this may be the movie for you. With a small amount of romance and a lot of unfortunate events, this is one for a wide variety of audiences.
This movie is almost comparable to the hit “Zombieland” starring Emma Stone and Jesse Eisenberg in 2009. They both have a guide layout that gives off the approach of teaching the audience something.
While “Zombieland” had the characters speaking directly to the audience, this movie lets the viewers make their own assumptions on the guide.
The details of this movie were nothing different than any other zombie film. The protruding veins and slow walking monsters are recognizable without a label.
However, the film does have one key difference. Instead of letting the characters live on in the virus infested world, this film gives an ending to help the viewer go home with a sense of conclusion. This is a nice change from the usual setup directors give to create a segway for a sequel.
There are very few faults in this movie, but would not recommend it to the younger audiences or the faint of heart. The rating for the movie is rightful.
