A new school year could mean a fresh start. Students have the opportunity to join a new club, venture on new paths, make new friends and give back to the community.
The Fall could also inspire students to change up their style and showcase some new trends of this season.
LSU marketing junior and Baton Rouge fashion blogger Taylor Vaughn plans to do just that.
Vaughn said her style is versatile because it differs with the occasion that the day brings.
“Between work, class and free time, I would say that it kind of just goes with whatever I am doing,” Vaughn said. “It could be ripped jeans and a baggy t-shirt one day, or it could be a dress and some low profile heels, or shorts, a crop top and gladiators.”
Since the release of her blog “Effortlessly Taylored,” Vaughn has amassed quite a following. On campus, she has helped coordinate LSU’s Hemline Fashion Show earlier this year. Vaughn said she loves going outside her comfort zone, exploring new trends and even setting them.
“I could go from hipster to edgy to classy cool to girly and preppy,” Vaughn said.
For campus wear, Vaughn advised how students can look fashionable but comfortable at the same time. She pulled out three looks that LSU tigers can incorporate into their everyday wardrobe and feel confident to wear to class.
“I’ve seen that the t-shirt dress is a really big hit, especially over the summer,” Vaughn continued. “It was really popular simply, because it is something you can take from day to night. It is really comfortable, yet you look put together.”
The next look was a pair of dark washed ripped jeans, and a cotton distressed light grey shirt with black sandals. She finished the look of with a pair of black sunglasses and gold Kendra Scott jewelry.
Vaughn also suggested wearing off the shoulder tops, over-sized sunglasses and gladiator sandals because they are in this season.
Though she explores new styles often, returning to the basics, such as a crew or v-neck shirt with a nice pair of jeans or shorts, is always a fallback.
For game day wear, Vaughn suggested wearing a purple dress with gold strap up sandals to show tiger pride.
“I love playing with my shoes, so I love gladiator tie-ups shoes, just something different so that you can stand out amongst the other people at the tailgate,” Vaughn continued. “A gold metallic headband would be cute to spice it up.”
Vaughn encouraged the student body to continue to express and stay true to themselves.
“I would definitely say keep wearing the trends, keep coming on campus with your newest styles, just because I feel like a lot of campus conforms to the t-shirts and Nike shorts,” Vaughn said. “However, I think polishing yourself up and pulling yourself together isn’t a bad thing either.”
