Sleeping. We all want it, but we never can get enough. Sleep deprivation is common on college campuses, and its effects can be painful. A study by the Journal of Adolescent Health found that 68 percent of college students don’t get the recommended eight hours of sleep.
This leaves students feeling groggy in class. The cause of all this seems to be technology. Things like phones and laptop computers can keep you awake, even if you don’t know it. Lots of technology can disrupt your sleeping habits, which can be a big problem.
In the short-term these distractions stop you from falling asleep, but the long term effects are much worse with things like slowness and insomnia.
It’s not easy, but it seems that for may students, they’re going to have to literately power down.
