Hilton skyrocketed to fame in 2003, when a sex tape was released. Weeks later, Hilton starred alongside best friend Nicole Richie in “The Simple Life,” a show about two heiresses trying to make a living in middle America.
The show garnered high ratings and made both Hilton and Richie household names, and survived for five seasons.
In the time span of “The Simple Life,” Hilton released a book, an album, starred in movies, and a perfume line.
Perhaps the greatest gift Hilton gave us was the song, “Stars Are Blind.” The mindless song achieved major radio success, making Hilton a one-hit wonder.
Whether at the club or the grocery store, Hilton always had a mass of flashbulbs following her.
Since her “Simple Life” days, Hilton has lived a less public life, enjoying the perks of both family and self-made empires.
Though Hilton’s public life has quieted down, she still finds time to make music. Hilton is now a disk jockey, having performed for crowds in Ibiza and Atlantic City. In 2013, she signed with Cash Money Records, and has released two singles, which failed to reproduce the success of “Stars Are Blind.”
Hilton hasn’t let go of her savvy entrepreneurial skills either. For Hilton, success smells sweet – to the tune of $2 billion, according to the perfume company Parlux. Hilton even released a new perfume this year.
While Hilton’s fame has died down, her aunts Kyle and Kim Richards star in “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.” Hilton has made appearances on the show, supporting her aunt’s endeavors.
Hilton made headlines earlier this year, when her dog Tinkerbell, who appeared in the Simple Life passed away. Tinkerbell’s passing brought upon a mass of nostalgia with fans, as many mourned the loss of Hilton’s longtime partner in crime.
Whether or not Hilton is still newsworthy, she started a brand of fame that was continued by former best friend Kim Kardashian West.
West and Hilton have feuded for years, with the two both making passive-aggressive digs against each other in the press.
