LSU will open its 2017 football season in Houston at the AdvoCare Texas Kickoff against BYU, the school announced Thursday.
The game, played at NRG Stadium, will be the first meeting between the Cougars and Tigers. It will be LSU’s second appearance in the AdvoCare Texas Kickoff, the first coming in a 28-24 win against Wisconsin to open last season.
“We are excited about the opportunity to return to Houston for the 2017 season opener against BYU,” said Joe Alleva, LSU Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics in a news release. “We opened the 2014 season against Wisconsin in NRG Stadium and the turnout and response from our fans far exceeded our expectations.
