An Oklahoma television station is reporting Oklahoma defensive coordinator Mike Stoops will meet with LSU coach Les Miles on Saturday in Dallas to discuss the Tigers’ defensive coordinator vacancy.
Stoops has served as defensive coordinator and associate head coach under his brother, Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops, for the last three seasons.
According to USA Today’s assistant coaches salary database released earlier in 2014, Mike Stoops made $856,400 in 2014, putting him No. 12 in the country among all coordinators.
Former LSU defensive coordinator John Chavis, who bolted Baton Rouge for Texas A&M shortly after the Tigers’ 31-28 loss to Notre Dame in the Music City Bowl, was No. 3 in the rankings, making a shade over $1.3 million in 2014.
The 2014 Sooners defense finished No. 56 in the NCAA in scoring defense and No. 52 in total defense.
