The Southeastern Conference announced its coaches’ All-SEC football teams on Tuesday afternoon. Five LSU players received All-SEC First or Second Team honors.
Sophomore running back Leonard Fournette and senior offensive tackle Vadal Alexander were the Tigers’ members on the First Team, while junior center Ethan Pocic, sophomore safety Jamal Adams and junior cornerback Tre’Davious White made the Second Team.
Fournette finished the season as the nation’s leader in rushing yards per game and top-five in the country in rushing touchdowns. In his last game, the sophomore broke the LSU single-season rushing record. He has 1,741 rushing yards to go along 18 touchdowns going into the Tigers’ bowl game.
Alexander started all 11 games for LSU this season. In those starts, he’s totaled over 100 knockdown blocks. Alexander earned SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week honors twice during the regular season.
Pocic also started every game on the Tigers’ offensive line this year. The two-year starter leads the team with over 115 knockdown blocks. He received SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week honors for his performance during LSU’s victories over South Carolina and Mississippi State.
Adams is a leader for the LSU defense in only his second season in Baton Rouge. The Texas native is first on the team with 4 interceptions.
White leads the Tigers with 6 pass breakups in his 10 games. He missed the Tigers’ game against Western Kentucky with an undisclosed injury.
LSU tied with Florida for the fourth most selections to the All-SEC Teams, trailing Alabama, Ole Miss and Texas A&M.
The Tigers return to the field on December 29th in the Advocare V100 Texas Bowl against Texas Tech.
