It’ll be an early Christmas for Johnny Jones and the LSU basketball team as they receive a key piece to their team back in uniform.
Senior guard Keith Hornsby will make his return to the court on Sunday afternoon when the Tigers take on Houston. He missed the all seven of the Tigers’ games so far this season following a pre-season surgery.
Hornsby averaged 13.4 points per game last year, third most on the team, but it is his leadership that the team is excited to have back the most
“He’s one of those guys you need to have out on the court,” freshman forward Ben Simmons said. “He’s one of the older guys so he’s a leader on the court and that just helps everyone out… He benefits the team a lot.”
Hornsby won’t start the game but will provide minutes off the bench. Hornsby said he is ready to play regardless of his role.
“I can do everything that I can do before. My shot is ready to go… The only thing that’s got to get back up to speed is lateral movement, but I’ve been moving really well.”
During his absence, LSU went 4-3 with all three losses coming away from Baton Rouge. Hornsby said he hopes his presence can help quell some of the Tigers’ issues.
LSU and Houston tipoff at 4:30 p.m. on ESPN2.
