Twin brothers Joshua and Joseph Hollins’ ticket name, the R.E.A.L. campaign, stands for Relevant Experience, Accessible Leadership.
The experience the Hollins brothers say they posses comes from different realms of the campus community.
Joe Hollins’s experience is based in Campus Life. He was a peer mentor in the inaugural class of leading edge, a campus life leadership development program. Among other positions, he sits on the Student Required Fee committee.
Josh Hollins served on the University court. Now he is the current executive director of external affairs. His work in that position has garnered his campaign the endorsement of two state legislators.
Yvonne Dorsey and Patricia Haynes-Smith both represent districts in East Baton Rouge Parish. Because of their close ties to the state legislature, the Hollins’s have outlined a different plan than their opponents regarding the budget crisis. They said their focus would be on budget reform within the state legislature, instead of an awareness based campaign.
The brothers also said they hope to promote various initiatives to promote diversity on campus. Specifically, they cited plans to advocate for better housing for international students and establishing a minority recruitment fund from alumni donations
