SHREVEPORT (AP) — There were neighs, a baa and a cock-a-doodle-doo in the Krewe of Barkus and Meoux Pet Parade.
The Times reports that a goat, a Polish rooster, horses and miniature horses were among 300 or so critters in Sunday’s stroll around Shreveport’s Riverview Park.
Most animals were pets, but volunteers at Four Forks Equine Rescue brought four full-sized horses and two miniature horses. Becky’s Bridge of Bossier City also brought rescued animals.
The event raises money for low-cost spay and neuter programs, animal shelters and rescue programs.
It’s open to any animal on a leash or in a carrier.
Jillian Kerneen wore zebra-print accessories to match the black-and-white plumage of Rocker the Polish rooster. Kathy Kerneen says Rocker walks around with the free-range turkeys on their farm in Haughton.
