Aside from a garbage run in the ninth inning, Appalachian State dominated the No. 7 LSU offense, winning the three-game series with a 11-1 victory Sunday at Alex Box Stadium.
The Mountaineers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back. Appalachian State scored in all but two innings, winning a three-game series against a BCS school for the first time in program history.
After being shutout in a non-conference game for the first time since 2004 on Saturday, the LSU offense continued to struggle. The Tigers only managed four hits after totaling three hits the previous day. The only extra base hit Saturday came when pinch hitter Arby Fields tripled to right field.
LSU will try and bounce back Tuesday when they return to action against Grambling State.
