We’re stuck in the odd time between holiday announcements and holiday releases, so the next few weeks of Tech With Taylor could be…weird.
And just to prove my point…
1. The U.S. Air Force tried to build a UFO
Alien-lovers rejoice.
“Project 1794” was an attempt by the U.S. in 1956 to build a working UFO with a 100,000-foot ceiling, a range of 1,000 nautical miles and be able to reach speeds of Mach 3 to Mach 4.
The recently declassified report would have cost around $3.2 million over two years in 1956, or $26.6 million in 2012 dollars, according to The Verge.
As you may have guessed, the project was never finished. Something about a 100,000-foot ceiling traveling at more than 2800 mph (Mach 4) just doesn’t seem possible.
But, it’s fascinating that the government actually attempted something like this.
2. iPad Mini supposedly stunning
That’s only a digital construction of what Apple’s iPad Mini will supposedly look like, but sweet Breesus is that thing pretty. An anodized aluminum unibody would make the iPad Mini the most beautiful Apple product since the iPhone 4.
Martin Hajek, who also made renders of the iPhone 5 pre-release, is responsible for the gorgeous photo.
Analysts are supposedly impressed with the design. Brian White, Topeka Capital Markets analyst, told All Things D that “Apple did not skimp on the aesthetics of the much anticipated iPad Mini.”
With Apple allegedly ordering $10 million units in anticipation of the holidays, this device is becoming more of a reality with every passing day.
That’s all the tech news for today! Check back Thursday for the latest and greatest in tech.
