Thursday, 10 a.m.: Tropical Storm Isaac is weakening as it slowly moves over central Louisiana, the National Weather Service reports.
Wind speeds have decreased to 40 mph, and the NWS predicts Isaac to become a tropical depression later tonight.
Baton Rouge is no longer under a tropical storm warning.

Thursday 7 a.m.: While the wind and rain on campus and around Baton Rouge have died down, Tropical Storm Isaac is still moving slowly northwestward into central Louisiana, according to the National Weather Service. Despite the storm moving further inland, it’s still bringing heavy rains, severe weather and Gulf Coast water levels are still high, according to the NWS.

Thursday 1:31 a.m.: As late night and early morning press on Baton Rouge and on campus, Tropical Storm Isaac is continuing to progress inland, according to the National Weather Service. FEMA announced Louisiana officials will be able to use federal aid to supplement recovery efforts.

Wednesday 10:17 p.m.: As night falls, Tropical Storm Isaac is moving inland as the Northern Gulf Coast’s water level remain high, according to the National Weather Service.

Wednesday 7:56 p.m.: Tropical Storm Isaac is still thrashing through Baton Rouge with strong winds and heavy rains, according to the National Weather Service.

Wednesday, 5:10 p.m.: East Baton Rouge Parish Mayor-President Melvin “Kip” Holden has announced a 6 p.m. curfew parish-wide.

Wednesday, 2:10 p.m.: While it’s barreling into Baton Rouge, Isaac has been downgraded from a hurricane to a tropical storm, according to the National Weather Service.
Though the storm’s been downgraded, the NWS is reporting that life-threatening storm-surge hazards are still occurring.

Wednesday, 11:06 a.m.: The center of Hurricane Isaac is currently near Houma, La.
The National Weather Service said Isaac’s continued slow movement could result in a “prolonged threat of flooding from heavy rains. High water levels are expected Wednesday, the NWS reports.
Winds in Baton Rouge are expected to be between 40 and 60 mph, with maximum gusts of 80 mph.

Wednesday, 9:24 a.m.: Hurricane Isaac is expected to reach Baton Rouge on Thursday at 1 a.m., according to National Weather Service projections.
Isaac continues to move slowly at 6 mph. The NWS called its movement “quasi-stationary.”
The storm is moving northwest and is expected to continue in that direction.

Tuesday, 10:04 p.m.: The National Weather Service reports that Hurricane Isaac is producing a strong storm surge along the northern Gulf Coast with flooding expected.
Isaac continues to move at 8 mph and is expected make landfall near Grand Isle.
It’s forecasted to reach Baton Rouge on Wednesday around 7 p.m.
Only a slight change in strength is expected over the next 12 hours, according to the NWS. The storm will likely weaken later Wednesday as it grows farther inland.
Hurricane Isaac’s slow motion is projected to cause a lengthy period of strong wind, heavy rainfall and possible flooding.

Tuesday 8:08 p.m.: Hurricane Isaac continues to move northwestward along the state’s southeastern coast at 8 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
The hurricane’s center will continue along the coast for the next few hours, and is then projected to move farther inland Wednesday.

The Associated Press reported Hurricane Isaac has made landfall in Plaquemines Parish.
Tuesday 6:50 p.m.: Hurricane Isaac’s center is still moving closer to the coast of southeastern Louisiana, according to the National Weather Service.
East Baton Rouge Parish is now under a tornado watch, and remains under a tropical storm warning.

Tuesday 4:23 p.m.: Hurricane Isaac is currently moving northwestward toward the mouth of the Mississippi River and drawing nearer to southeastern Louisiana, according to the National Weather Service’s tracking.
Isaac is a Category 1 hurricane with a maximum sustained winds of 80 mph. The storm could gain strength before making landfall, and is expected to weaken after landing, the NWS reports.
The hurricane’s center is expected to reach the southeastern Louisiana this evening.
East Baton Rouge is under a tropical storm warning and flash flood watch.
Tropical storm conditions are expected to persist from late this afternoon until Wednesday night. Hurricane-force winds will extend outward up to 60 miles, and tropical-storm-force winds will extend outward up to 185 miles.
Hurricane Isaac is expected to produce seven to 14 inches of rainfall over Louisiana, southern Mississippi and southern Alabama.

Winds could gust as high as 75 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
– Wednesday night: Tropical storm conditions expected. Showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Low around 76. South wind 35 to 45 mph becoming southwest. Winds could gust as high as 65 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%.
