The University’s administration reaffirms its commitment to the NC State Women’s Center and interpersonal violence (IPV) services provided by the center since its inception. The Women’s Center will continue to provide IPV services to survivors of rape and sexual violence and education to the campus community about this important issue. Due to the vacancy created by the resignation of the assistant director of IPV services in the Women’s Center, a search will be conducted to fill this position. A search committee will be appointed and we hope to have a new staff member on board for the beginning of the 2012-2013 academic year. Ms. Carolina Azuru, rape prevention educator in the Women’s Center, will chair the search committee. In the meantime, we have appointed Ms. Adrianna Harrell as an interim coordinator of IPV services. Adrianna is well-known to the campus community and is a founding member of the student group, The Movement. The Women’s Center, one of the campus community centers housed within the Office for Institutional Equity and Diversity, has made great strides over the past year under the leadership of Dr. Ashley Simons-Rudolph. Dr. Simons-Rudolph is expanding the reach of the center in keeping with the university’s strategic goal of enhancing the success of our students through educational innovation. The center’s programming continues to provide high-impact educational experiences on a range of gender-related issues that will positively impact students’ educational and personal growth. The Women’s Center, located in 322 Harrelson Hall, is open this summer. We invite you to visit.
