A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle outside of a designated crosswalk Feb. 29 at about 8 p.m. and remains in critical condition. Gary Frith, Facility Services employee, was crossing Nicholson Drive 170 feet south of the crosswalk at South Stadium Drive when he was hit by a University student driving north on Nicholson Drive, according to LSU Police Department spokesperson Capt. Russell Rogé. The student was driving a small car, and LSUPD determined the student was not at fault. Neither speed nor alcohol were a factor in the collision, Rogé said. No charges have been filed. Rogé said Frith was in the area to attend an LSU baseball game. Frith suffered multiple head injuries and was immediately taken to a hospital where he is still in critical condition, Rogé said.
