The state Department of Environmental Quality has canceled the ozone action day scheduled for today in five parishes around Baton Rouge as ozone levels are no longer expected to reach predicted high levels.
The DEQ monitors ozone levels and on days when high levels are expected, they sponsor an action day to encourage carpooling and other ozone-reducing activities.
Because it is overcast today the ozone levels will not reach the predicted high levels, causing the DEQ to cancel the action day, DEQ Spokesman Tim Beckstrom said.
The five parishes affected are East and West Baton Rouge, Livingston, Ascension and Iberville.
