The Faculty Senate reached an agreement on the reproportioning of holidays – to disagree.
They discussed possibilities for starting Thanksgiving Break a half day early and moving spring break back a week to coincide with East Baton Rouge Parish’s vacation on Thursday at their last meeting of the school year.
Changing the dates of spring break would result in students returning from Mardi Gras Break for half a day of classes on Ash Wednesday. The Friday before Spring Break, recognized as a state holiday, would be considered part of Spring Break.
Changes to Thanksgiving Break would result in a half day on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.
“This resolution was actually written at the request of the students,” said Vincent Licata of the proposed resolution.
Resolutions similar to both proposed resolutions have already passed in the Student Government.
