BATON ROUGE (AP) — Elections officials expect lengthy waits for voters and a late night of vote tallying Tuesday as Louisiana residents cast their ballots in presidential, congressional and local races. Secretary of State Jay Dardenne predicted a voter turnout topping 70 percent statewide, after a record early voting period that saw 9 percent of voters casting ballots ahead of the election. “I think that translates to long lines, particularly in the heavily populated precincts in urban areas,” Dardenne said.
