The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration awarded $3.85 million in research funding over five years to the University of Oklahoma and LSU for climate and drought assessment, according to a NOAA news release.NOAAs Regional Integrated Sciences and Assessments program provided the funding to assess the risks of climate and drought impacts in the university’s regions and to develop tools and resources for use by local and regional community managers in long-range planning.LSU’s Department of Geographyand Anthropology was awarded first-year funding totaling$700,000.
