LSU will bring back downtown shuttles for its remaining home football games, the Athletic Department announced Wednesday. The original shuttle was run by the Capital Area Transit System. The new shuttle is sponsored by an agreement between Hotard Destination Services and the Downtown Business Association, according to an Athletic Department news release. The CATS shuttle service was shut down after the Federal Transit Administration passed a federal regulation prohibiting public transportation companies from charging fees higher than standard fare for special occasions. The price for the original CATS service was $10 per ticket. Round trip tickets are now $15 per ticket. The University also received a bid from Louisiana Trailways, which offered $10 round-trip tickets.Shuttle tickets will be sold on a “first-come, first-served” basis and must be purchased from the Sheraton Baton Rouge Convention Center Hotel or the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center.Downtown boarding starts two hours before kickoff, and the last bus will leave no later than one hour before kickoff.Post-game busing begins after the third quarter and will finish shuttling 45 minutes after the game.Tickets for the Tulane game shuttle will be available Thursday and on the Tuesday before each remaining game.Five buses will operate Saturday with 228 seats available. Hotard will provide 11 buses, which amounts to 540 seats, for the Alabama game on Nov. 8. Four buses are scheduled to run for the Nov. 15 Troy game, and seven buses will run for the Ole Miss game Nov. 22.- – – -Contact Robert Stewart at [email protected]
