One of three Baton Rouge men arrested in May in the December killing of two international University graduate students has been indicted on murder charges.
Prosecutors asked the East Baton Rouge Parish grand jury to indict Devin Jamell Parker, Casey Gathers and Michael Jermaine Lewis on first-degree murder charges, but the panel chose only to indict Parker on two counts of second-degree murder.
In considering first-degree murder charges against Gathers and Lewis, the grand jury neither indicted nor cleared the two men.
Chandrasekhar Reddy Komma, a biology student from Kurnool, India, and Kiran Kumar Allam, a chemistry student from Hyderabad, India, were killed Dec. 13 at Allam’s Edward Gay apartment.
Both men were shot in the head, and one was bound.
