Volleyball fans will watch the team from a different perspective this weekend when LSU plays Tennessee and Kentucky at the PMAC.Seating arrangements for the PMAC during volleyball games is now limited to the lower level of the facility, team spokeswoman Caroline Domecq said Tuesday.Fans must now enter through the southwest, southeast and northwest corridors, and all students using LSU IDs must enter the southwest corridor.Tickets will be sold by the southwest corridor, and the booth will remain open through the second set of each match, Domecq said.Spectators can also sit behind the LSU bench, said LSU coach Fran Flory. In previous seasons, fans were ejected for sitting behind the bench. The new seating arrangement is partially because of the construction of the new basketball practice facility on the north side of the PMAC.”We had previously forced everybody to go upstairs,” Flory said. “I don’t think we can have that many people upstairs with the construction.”Flory said she has wanted the new arrangement for a while.”We want a more intimate environment,” Flory said. “We want the crowd closer to us. We want to be surrounded by our fans cheering for LSU.”Flory said the PMAC is too big for the old seating arrangement. “Other facilities in the SEC are much louder and much better in terms of the home court advantage,” Flory said. “We certainly have great fans and rowdy fans and the atmosphere, but you don’t truly feel it until they’re closer to you.”Flory said she wants to see the new arrangement continue beyond this season.”We’ll see if when we implement the concept if it actually gives the effect that we’re looking for,” Flory said.Contact Robert Stewart at [email protected]
