A University Bookstore employee was arrested after allegedly stealing money customers used to make cash purchases.
Freda Arthur, 30, of 2795 Wren Street, Baton Rouge allegedly offered customers a discounted price for purchases if they paid with cash, providing an opportunity for her to allegedly steal money, said Capt. Russell Roge, LSUPD spokesman.
Arthur was arrested at 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 22 and issued a misdemeanor summons for theft, Roge said.
LSUPD responded to a complaint from a student that Arthur was allegedly involved in fraudulent practices involving the cash she received during her employment at the Bookstore.
Roge said Arthur was issued a misdemeanor summons because the amount in question was less than $300.
