The Board of Supervisors will meet June 5 to consider approving doctoral degrees to three deceased University students.
Carrie Yoder, 26, was a graduate student in biology. She was murdered in March 2003 by convicted serial killer Derrick Todd Lee.
Yoder had completed her classes and a committee accepted her research proposal before she disappeared, according to a University news release.
Chandrasekhar Komma and Kiran Allam were doctoral students in biochemistry and chemistry, respectively. Komma and Allam were shot and killed on campus in December.
Three suspects — Michael Jermaine Lewis, Casey Gathers and Devin Jamell Parker — were each charged with two counts of first-degree murder this past week in relation to those shootings.
