BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — A Baton Rouge police officer cited for first-offense DWI in November will retire from the police force this week.Police spokesman Don Kelly said Wednesday that Sgt. Edward Coulter filed his retirement papers three weeks ago, ending a 22-year career with the police department.Police say the 50-year-old Coulter was cited for first-offense DWI and driving left of center on Nov. 3. The misdemeanor counts followed an Oct. 29 traffic crash.Investigators say Coulter was off-duty when the crash occurred but driving a marked police car when he crossed the center line and collided with another vehicle.Coulter suffered moderate injuries. The other driver was not hurt.
