Hurricane Katrina, marijuana and Caucasians were three of the topics comedian Katt “Money Mike” Williams touched on Friday night at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
Williams has been in such films as “Friday After Next” and plays “A Pimp Named Slickback” on Cartoon Network’s “The Boondocks.” He entertained at the PMAC in a free show for students put on by the Music and Mayhem Committee.
A quarter of the PMAC seats were sectioned off and quickly filled as hip-hop blared from huge speakers. Most seats were filled when Williams walked out onto the stage, wearing a white fur coat.
In his show, Williams covered everything from women to Hurricane Katrina.
He went on to explain his feelings about the president and his reaction to the war in Iraq, neither of which were positive. His sentiments on Bush were summed up in a two-word sentence ending in the word “Bush” and beginning with an expletive.
He spoke about why black people cannot be friends with white people, why getting shot is not “cool” and how many types of “weed” there are.
At the end of the show, he opened the floor to questions and chose several random people to walk to the stage, where he handed them cash.
He answered some of the questions with more jokes, but after a while he became serious in his answers.
“I went to college as much as I could, two of my girlfriends were in college,” Williams said.
When asked if marijuana should be legal, he said it should.
“Aspirin ain’t illegal, but take 13 of those [pills] and that’s your last headache,” Williams said.
But when asked about being a father, he suddenly became serious.
Williams said being a father changed his life. He said it became much more important to him to find a legal job, which he did through acting. “Friday After Next” was his break.
Williams spoke about growing up and how his dreams were constantly changing.
“Everyday I wanted to be something new that looked cool … a racecar driver, a lion tamer,” Williams said.
He closed with a simple sentiment for all college students.
“All you got to do is know ‘I’m good at something,'” Williams said. “Just be a little smart in your major, ’cause most people are stupid. Just be a little smart, and the money will come from there. That’s why you go to college, to make money.”
