A blanket of silence will cover the University today at 11 a.m. in observance of the one-week anniversary of the shootings at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Va. Several universities plan to participate in the VT Solidarity Project’s nationwide moment of silence in remembrance of the 33 lives lost last Monday. The Center for Community Engagement, Learning and Leadership, a service-learning organization, is sponsoring the project. Students, faculty and staff will have the opportunity to write messages on a scroll that CCELL plans to send to Va. Tech this week. The organization also plans to hand out white ribbons in front of the Student Union. The moment of silence is one of several events for Virginia Tech sponsored by LSU. One of the largest gatherings was held Thursday night when more than 200 people congregated in front of the Memorial Clock Tower for a candlelight vigil.
