1. DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED
A student was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated Saturday at 6:18 p.m.
Kevin Kazda, 20, construction management junior, of 1907 Meadowmanner Court, Houston, was charged with driving while intoxicated and a stop sign violation.
LSUPD responded to a report of a traffic accident at Dorthy Dixon Street and Lakeshore Drive, said LSUPD spokesman Capt. Sherman Dickerson. Officers detected a smell of odor on Kazda and he failed a field sobriety test, Dickerson said.
Kazda allegedly ran a stop sign and struck another vehicle, Dickerson said. The student was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
2. RECKLESS OPERATION
A student was arrested Sunday at 11:45 p.m. after allegedly speeding out of the West CEBA parking lot.
Colin Knappe, 19, of 30 Shady Oaks Drive, Covington, was charged with reckless operation of a vehicle.
LSUPD responded to a report of a hit and run accident in the West CEBA parking lot and found Knappe was the victim, Dickerson said. While the officer was filling out the police report, Knappe allegedly became angry and began screaming and cursing, Dickerson said.
Knappe then got into his car and left the parking lot at a high speed, Dickerson said. He was issued a misdemeanor summons and released.
3. ON CAMPUS DRUG VIOLATIONS
Two students were arrested and charged with drug law violations on campus.
Randee Young, 18, chemical engineering freshman, of 13456 L. Landry Road, Gonzales, was charged with counts of possession of marijuana and possessions of drug paraphernalia. Police responded Thursday at 9:47 p.m. to a complaint of the smell of burning marijuana in room 10 of West Laville Hall, Dickerson said.
Sally James, 21, English student, of 24 Chapel St., Halton, Leeds, England, was charged with one count of simple possession of marijuana. Police responded Sunday at 12:51 p.m. to a complaint of the smell of burning marijuana at 1007 West Campus Apartments, Dickerson said.
Both were issued a misdemeanor summons and released.
4. REMAINING AFTER BEING FORBIDDEN
A 45-year-old man was charged Nov. 12 for returning to Middleton Library after being previously forbidden from campus.
Aguedo Delgado, of 818 Camelia Avenue, Baton Rouge, was charged with remaining after being forbidden. LSUPD responded to a complaint about suspicious activity in the library by a man using the computers, Dickerson said. LSUPD found that Delgado had previously been forbidden from returning to campus.
He was issued a misdemeanor summons and released.
5. SIMPLE BATTERY
A student was charged Nov. 13 at 6:11 a.m. after getting into a fight on Fraternity Row.
Travis Moore, 20, business junior, of 2620 N. 10th St., Ocean Springs, Miss., was charged with simple battery. LSUPD responded to a complaint at the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity house on West Lakeshore Drive, Dickerson said.
Moore allegedly got into a fight and pushed and attempted to choke the victim, Dickerson said. Moore then tried to flee by entering the SAE house, where officers subdued him, he said.
Moore was issued a misdemeanor summons and released.
