Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Greek Affairs Angela Guillory was honored by an international Greek organization.
Guillory, the University’s Panhellenic adviser, was recently named Outstanding Panhellenic Advisor by the National Panhellenic Conference. The conference is an organization that spans 26 women’s fraternities and sororities. The conference’s global membership exceeds 3.6 million.
Lauren Chapetta, president of the University’s Panhellenic Council, was instrumental in compiling and sending in Guillory’s nomination. She said any Panhellenic adviser is eligible to apply.
“It’s a really big award,” Chapetta said. “I’m very excited that she won.”
Chapetta said the application looks at the different ways the adviser has made an impact on the Greek community. Guillory’s application mentioned her focus on improving recruitment and promoting “harmonious relationships within Panhellenic.”
Barbara Probst, a delegate to the National Panhellenic Conference and member of the organization’s award committee, said there were “a ton of criteria” used to select the Outstanding Panhellenic Advisor.
“Angela was so good at focusing on something that needed to be done,” Probst said. “They’ve struggled with several issues, and she knew just how to come in and to fix that problem.”
Probst said Guillory’s role in establishing monthly meetings and educational workshops contributed to her achievement.
The conference will present the award to Guillory at the organization’s biennial session in Chicago at the end of October.
“It’s a big deal to win that award,” Probst said. “It will be presented to her in front of many of her peers.”
