Law Center Chancellor Jack Weiss said the proposed budget cuts to higher education for the 2009-2010 fiscal year means a $2 million cut for the law school. Weiss said he is working to protect the two most important aspects of the school – students and faculty. The chancellor said he would start reducing the budget by suspending distinguished foreign visitors, cutting travel and reducing library hours, but the largest consequence will be laying off faculty. He said the Law Center will survive, but he is concerned about maintaining student and faculty momentum. —-Contact Joy Lukachick at [email protected]
