BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal plans to spend nearly $30 million on emergency generators for nursing homes and hospitals.
Jindal said the generators are necessary to prepare for hurricane power outages, such as those the state experienced after storms that hit Louisiana since 2005.
Jindal said Friday that $19.6 million of the federal money will go to nursing homes and $8.4 million to hospitals. Another $2 million goes to the state’s so-called “megashelter.”
