BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Gov. Bobby Jindal says state has a plan to get ahead of the swine flu outbreak and he stresses the importance of citizens taking steps to prevent against illness.
On Sunday, Jindal said there are currently no confirmed cases of swine flu in Louisiana at this time.
The swine outbreak has sickened 20 people in the U.S. and hundreds more in Mexico, and it is being closely monitored by state and federal agencies including the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals.
The governor has activated a Crisis Action Team to monitor the national trends and report cases in Louisiana.
Symptoms of the swine flu include: fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. Jindal warned that if anyone is experiencing these symptoms they should consult their doctor as soon as possible.
