NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The second half of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival kicks off Thursday with performances by a host of New Orleans favorites, including singer and violinist Theresa Andersson and the Little Freddie King Blues Band.
The day’s closing acts include guitarist Ben Harper, country singer Emmylou Harris and soul singer Marva Wright.
Jazz singer Tony Bennett, who is slated to perform at the festival on Friday, will be spending Thursday afternoon at a New Orleans school where he and his wife, Susan, are presenting students with musical instruments. The couple is donating instruments to the KIPP Believe College Prep Academy, a public charter school in New Orleans that offers free and open enrollment.
