Kinesiology doctoral candidate Elizabeth Domangue was recently recognized by the Myra Sadker Foundation for her dissertation work on gender equity in physical fitness testing, according to a University news release.
Domangue, whose dissertation focuses on using feminist theories to analyze differences in fitness testing expectations for girls and boys, received a $2,000 Sadker Award.
The Myra Sadker Foundation selects recipients whose research supports the ideals of Myra Sadker, a pioneer in gender equity who died of cancer in 1995, according to the news release.
The Foundation was established by Myra’s husband, David Sadker, who called to personally congratulate Domangue.
“The work Myra did was huge for gender equity,” Domangue said. “This work has always been a part of me, so to be recognized was very meaningful.”
Domangue is set to finish her dissertation this year, the news release stated. ——Contact Kyle Bove at [email protected]
