Former LSU men’s basketball player Tyrus Thomas won the CDW/Blackberry Bulls Community Player of the Year award, the LSU Athletic Department announced Thursday.
Thomas has led the Chicago Bulls in community appearances the past two seasons, according to a news release. He has donated school supplies to local students in Chicago and helped the Bulls and Tyson Foods donate 90,000 pounds of poultry to homeless shelters in Chicago this season.
Thomas averaged 10.8 points and 6.4 rebounds per game for the Bulls in the regular season. Chicago will play Boston in game one of the first round of the playoffs Saturday.
The Baton Rouge native led LSU to the Final Four in 2006, the fourth appearance in program history.
