The LSU AgCenter has been closely monitoring the progress of a federal lawsuit filed by environmental groups against the Environmental Protection Agency that could further regulate pesticide applications, according to an AgCenter news release.
All court proceedings have been in the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals. Judges of the court decided in January to require a permit for applying pesticides on or near streams.
Paul Coreil, AgCenter vice chancellor, said the federal permits would be time consuming and costly, according to the release.
