Education officials at the LSU Hilltop Arboretum are focusing their efforts toward sustainability while expanding their list of programs, according to a University news release.
“Hilltop is really a place where you come to study design,” said Arboretum director Peggy Coates. “Whether it’s a group of children, adults or professionals, we’re trying to make this the center for sustainable design and sustainable gardening.”
Arboretum officials are drafting plans for a educational facility that would be the University’s first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, or LEED, certified building. The building would make more room for more educational programs offered to students and professionals.—-Contact Kyle Bove at [email protected]
