After five and a half hours of delays and a couple drops of rain, LSU and Little Rock were finally able to hit the field and battle in game one of the Baton Rouge Regional.
The second half of LSU’s dynamic duo of aces took the bump, with Anthony Eyanson taking the ball for LSU, looking to set the tone after his strong relief performance in the SEC Tournament.
The righty would toss 7.2 innings of 5-hit ball, allowing no runs and tallying seven strikeouts. Eyanson would exit to a standing ovation from the Tiger faithful.
While the typical swing-and-miss stuff wasn’t there for Eyanson as it usually is, his curveball looked very sharp, and his performance sets LSU up very well for the rest of the weekend.
LSU opened the scoring in the bottom of the 1st on an RBI single from Jake Brown and wouldn’t look back from there, scoring a run in five of the first seven innings.
The star in the batter’s box would be Second Baseman Daniel Dickinson, who launched two home runs to left field, giving the junior transfer three RBI in his NCAA Tournament debut.
Dickinson’s second homer, a two-run shot, capped off a three-run frame for the Tigers and propelled the Tiger offense to their best performance in weeks, scoring seven runs on 11 hits.
D.J. Primeaux would enter to get the final out of the eighth and Maverick Rizy would handle the ninth inning, closing the door on the Trojans and send the Tigers to the 1-0 game with a 7-0 win.
All eyes focus on Kade Anderson now, as the lefty is the likely starter for LSU in the 1-0 game Saturday, as the sophomore lefty looks to add another to what’s been a season of dominant performances thus far.
