LSU System President John Lombardi was appointed to the board of directors for Nabors Industries LTD., the Bermuda-based oil and gas company announced today in a news release.
The board selected Lombardi to fill a newly created position on the board, expanding from seven members to eight. Lombardi will serve as a “Class I Director,” serving through the company’s 2010 shareholders meeting, and was appointed to the “compensation, and governance and nominating committees” of the board.
“Dr. Lombardi brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our Board,” Nabors Chairman and CEO Gene Isenberg said in the release. “He has effectively served as the CEO and in other senior management capacities of several major universities. That management perspective, combined with his expertise in business in Latin America, complements and augments the already strong and diverse qualifications of our other Board members.”
Nabors own and operate more than 500 land drilling and more than 750 land workover and well-servicing rigs in North America, according to the release.
