A team of researchers and students from Louisiana State University has won first prize at an international supercomputing conference for a demonstration simulating black holes.
A black hole is formed when a massive star collapses from its own gravity. A black hole has such a strong pull of gravity that not even light can escape from it.
The team included faculty at the LSU Center for Computation and Technology. It demonstrated an interactive system that simulated and visualized black holes to study the physics of gravitational waves.
