Gov. Bobby Jindal told The News Star on Sunday cuts in higher education will likely not be at the worst case scenario level. In late January, Jindal warned of cuts in higher eduction between $212 million and $382 million for the fiscal year beginning July 1. “It’s still very early in the budget process,” Jindal said. “These numbers are likely to change. There are many more steps in the process.”The cut could mean a budget reduction of up to $71.9 million at LSU’s main campus in Baton Rouge, according to a budget reduction exercise LSU System officials released Wednesday. We look forward to working with the Governor, his staff, and the legislature to find good solutions for the challenges this state faces.——Contact the Daily Reveille’s news staff at [email protected]
