Filmmaker and University screenwriter-in-residence Zack Godshall was named the 2009 Louisiana Filmmaker of the Year at the New Orleans Film Festival.
Godshall screened his latest film at the festival, a documentary called “God’s Architects.” The film chronicles 5 men who say they were divinely inspired to create monuments to God without blueprints or funds.
Awards like this one give buzz to Godshall, but also to his work, which he thinks is more important, he said.
“Anything like that helps to build a reputation for the film,” Godshall said. “It helps the film have a life outside of me.”
Godshall is contracted to teach at the University until 2012, but said he hopes to continue teaching and making films after that.
