The number of students who have tested positive for Type A influenza is still climbing, reaching 217 confirmed cases as of Monday.
Since Aug.26, the Student Health Center has reported an additional 35 student cases of the virus and there were still many students in the waiting room this morning.
Julie Hupperich, associate director of the Health Center, said the clinic is still preparing to accept and distribute a H1N1 vaccine, which should be available by December.
Hupperich said the expected release date of the vaccine has been pushed back several times and the availability of it will depend on demand.
“It just depends on what company is producing it,” Hupperich said. “With the national attention it’s getting, there will be lots of groups trying to get it.”
She said students who exhibit any flu like symptoms — especially fever and sore throat — should visit the Health Center for testing.
